10/22/2012
On October 18 and 19, project-funding body, the German Aerospace Center, invited its guests to Bonn to attend the second meeting of Coordinating Offices in the Framework Programme for the Promotion of Empirical Educational Research by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF).

The Framework Programme has been funded by the BMBF for five years now. Its main aims include strengthening empirical educational research structurally, developing it qualitatively, connecting it to more international projects, providing knowledge for reforms of the educational system as well as the economic system, and consolidating the central instruments of output- and evidence-based policies scientifically. While the first meeting in 2010 focused on the development of a common understanding concerning the role and the tasks of the Coordinating Offices in the Framework Programme, this year the areas of public relations and transfers were the main topics.

At the beginning of the meeting, the following projects presented the current status of their research and development:
Afterwards, there was an intensive exchange of ideas between the Federal Ministry of Education and Research and the Coordinating Offices concerning the topics of transfer, internationalization, promotion of young researchers, and especially the work of public relations. In several sessions, previous activities and experiences were presented, reflected on, and possible developments were discussed constructively. The value of the Coordinating Offices in terms of a successful promotion of the research priorities had already been raised by this intensive dialogue between the attending funders and scientists. Over the course of the meeting, further measures were developed to facilitate further communication between all involved parties and to render the Framework Programme more visible to an increasing number of people.
