New version for linked data package NEPS-SC6-ADIAB available

4/28/2020

A new version of the data package „Survey data from the adult cohort of the National Educational Panel Study (NEPS-SC6) linked with administrative data of the Institute for Employment Research (ADIAB)“, first released in April 2018, is now available. On the one hand, the new version includes administrative data from 1975 to 2017 and thus offers an extension of the covered time span by two years. On the other hand, the survey data of the NEPS Starting Cohort 6 now extend up to and including the tenth wave. Data users involved in projects with an existing data use agreement for NEPS-SC6-ADIAB can informally apply for an update by sending an e-mail to the Research Data Center of the Federal Employment Agency at the Institute for Employment Research (IAB-FDZ).

NEPS-SC6-ADIAB is a data package jointly provided by the Leibniz Institute for Educational Trajectories (LIfBi) and the Institute for Employment Research (IAB). It consists of the information contained in the Scientific Use File of the NEPS panel study "Adult Education and Lifelong Learning" (version 10) as well as information from the IAB's administrative data portfolio, including employee history, benefit recipient history, unemployment benefit II recipient history, jobseeker history, and participants-in-measures history. The combination of both data sources makes it possible to address new research questions, in particular those that require detailed income data over the life course. Further information on the characteristics contained in the updated version of NEPS-SC6-ADIAB can be found in the FDZ-Datenreport 04/2020 on the website of the IAB-FDZ.

Due to data protection regulations, access to NEPS-SC6-ADIAB is only possible during a guest stay at one of the locations of the IAB-FDZ and subsequent remote data processing. Prerequisite is the conclusion of a data use agreement with both the FDZ-LIfBi and the IAB-FDZ.
