In the Scientific Use Files of Starting Cohort 1 (Newborns), a critical data error has occurred in the vocabulary competence (PPVT). Affected are, according to current knowledge, the variables von6_sc3, von8_sc3, von10_sc3 (Vocabulary: sum) in the dataset SC1_xTargetCompetencies. Unfortunately, it cannot be ruled out that the use of these variables leads to incorrect results.
Both the programming of the vocabulary test and the data preparation are currently being checked intensively and with priority. As soon as a correction of the data has been made, a corresponding update of the Scientific-Use-File will be provided. We inform about this in a separate news and via e-mail to all NEPS data users.
Until this correction is done, the urgent recommendation is not to work with the currently published data on vocabulary in Starting Cohort 1. In case of already completed or ongoing analyses with the mentioned variables, it is highly advisable to check the results on the basis of the corrected Scientific Use File of SC1 (version 10.1.0) as soon as it is available.
