The former President of the Hessian Statistical Office spoke about the “New general data protection regulation of the European Union” at the Leibniz Institute for Educational Trajectories (LIfBi).

He explained that the German model of a “ban with permit reservation” has been adopted by the new EU GDPR. Besides that, he also drew comparisons with other countries and advised about the consequences of the regulation for data collection, data processing, and data usage. Finally, he presented the current work on the process of adapting the data protection law to the new EU regulation and described the progress of implementation.
