Visit by Dr. Miriam Roth Douglas, Ph.D. (West Liberty University, WV) and students from various universities

On July 16, 2016, Dr. Jutta von Maurice and Stefanie Buchner welcomed for the second time Dr. Miriam Roth Douglas, Ph.D., Director of the Community Education Program at the College of Education at West Liberty University in West Virginia, and students from the following universities: West Liberty University, Marshall University and Shepherd University, all from West Virginia, US. The visit at the LIfBi was once again part of a 2-week program called “Summer study-abroad”, which is led and organized by Dr. Miriam Roth Douglas and initiated by the Ministry of Culture of the State of West Virginia.

Dr. Jutta von Maurice and Stefanie Buchner gave a presentation on the theoretical framework of the NEPS, the design of the starting cohorts of the study, the accessibility of the data as well as their national and international outreach. After the presentation, Dr. von Maurice answered questions from the students concerning the National Educational Panel Study and the differences between the U.S. and the German educational system.
