A jury consisting of Prof. Sandra Buchholz (University of Bamberg), Prof. Thorsten Schneider (Leipzig University), Prof. Hans-Günther Roßbach (Director of the LIfBi), Prof. Corinna Kleinert (Department Head of “Educational Decisions and Processes, Migration, Returns to Education”), and Dr. Jutta von Maurice (Executive Director of Research at the LIfBi) rated 19 nominated publications of the years 2014 and 2015 that presented analyses based on NEPS data. After a review according to an extensive list of criteria, “The role of first-language listening comprehension in second-language reading comprehension” by Aileen Edele and Prof. Petra Stanat (both Institute for Educational Quality Improvement, Berlin) was selected as the best publication.

A final version of the article can be found in the Journal of Educational Psychology (Edele, A. & Stanat, P. (2016). The role of first-language listening comprehension in second-language reading comprehension. Journal of Educational Psychology, 108(2), 163–180. doi:10.1037/edu0000060). As the advance online publication had already been published in 2015, the outstanding work was eligible for this review period. The NEPS publication award is endowed with prize money of 1,000 €.
