Second methods workshop with Prof. Dr. Götz Rohwer

4/24/2015
On April 22 and 23, 2015, the Leibniz Institute for Educational Trajectories (LIfBi) organized a workshop on the subject of “Theoretical and practical problems of working with NEPS data” led by Prof. Dr. Götz Rohwer, Ruhr-Universität Bochum.
NEPS data users were given a forum to discuss methodological questions concerning different challenges regarding the analysis of NEPS data. Attending participants had the opportunity to describe their own challenges regarding research with NEPS data and to discuss specific questions and application-related problems associated with this. The discussion focused on the topics of “Analytical potential and limits of linking different starting cohorts” as well as “Consequences of different approaches regarding the conceptualization of measuring errors in competence tests”.

The workshop was rounded off by some hands-on analysis taking a special look at the structure of panel data of Starting Cohort 4–Grade 9–considering school leavers in particular.

About 15 participants used the opportunity to intensify the debate with Prof. Dr. Götz Rohwer and other NEPS data users around different methodological approaches as well as their implementation in current statistical programs. The first methods workshop with Prof. Dr. Götz Rohwer took place on October 13 and 14, 2014.
