It was a special honor for the National Educational Panel Study to open the “International Conference on the Construction and Utilization of Education Databases (CERE 2013)” in Taipei on October 25, 2013, with a keynote speech focusing on setting up the data supply of the NEPS, which is receiving a great deal of attention internationally. Taiwan is also conducting longitudinal educational research and is therefore highly interested in the construction of a widespread data supply in its own country.

In addition to this, on October 20, 2013, Dr. Jutta von Maurice presented the NEPS to members and students of the Department of Educational Administration and Management at the National Dong Hwa University in Hualien and discussed differences between the educational systems in Germany and Taiwan.

Despite the distinct differences between the cultures and the different learning opportunities available, many shared challenges appeared in the area of empirical educational research. Consequently, both sides are interested in continuing their mutual scientific exchange. Currently, the possibility of a user training to be held in Taiwan is under discussion.
