Dr. Carlo Giovanni Camarda, INED, visited the NEPS

3/4/2013
On February 28 and 29, 2013, Dr. Carlo Giovanni Camarda came to Bamberg to visit the National Educational Panel Study (NEPS).

Dr. Camarda is Senior Researcher in Statistics and Demography working at the National Institute for Demography in France (INED). Among other things, he is an expert in analyzing aggregated data and in modeling misreporting patterns such as digit preference. In his talk entitled “A general model for patterns and trends of digit preference“, he presented a statistical approach to cope with digit preference—that is, a tendency to round outcomes to pleasing end digits. The NEPS methods group has greatly benefited by learning from Dr. Camarda’s expertise in this field as they were able to develop further a novel approach to modeling rounded and heaped income data.
