Prof. Dr. (emer.) Klaus-Jürgen Tillmann, University of Bielefeld: ”The German Federal States and Their Educational Systems – Structural Variants and Individual Use“

On May 14, 2012, the NEPS was delighted to welcome Prof. Dr. (emer.) Klaus-Jürgen Tillman of the University of Bielefeld. In an interesting lecture, Mr. Tillman spoke about the structural variants of the German public school system, that is, the differences in its federal-state-specific embodiments.

On the one hand, the individual use of existing structures which manifests itself in various school biographies is of great significance to the NEPS. Yet, besides the spatial variations, it is also necessary to take into account the temporal variations, which manifest themselves in cohort-specific school biographies.
