The workshop was organized by the longitudinal study “Growing Up in Ireland” in Dublin and the “Centre for Longitudinal Studies” at the “Institute of Education in London”; the representatives were invited by the EUCCONET-Network (European Child Cohort Network), which is supported by the European Science Foundation (ESF). Within 12 individual presentations the research approaches of different European and non-European studies were represented and especially ethnic aspects were a center issue of discussion. The National Educational Panel Study was represented by the Executive Director of Administration, Dr. Jutta von Maurice, giving a speech on data collection regarding the educational processes and the competence development of 9^th-grade-students.
