Prof. Thorsten Schneider accepted an offer for a professorship at the University of Leipzig und declined a professorship at the University of Trier.

Professor Thorsten Schneider was offered a professorship for Sociology with focus on Cross-National Comparison at the University of Leipzig in November 2010 and a professorship for Sociology with focus on Methods of Empirical Social Research at the University of Trier in February 2011.
He accepted the offer at the University of Leipzig and will start there in autumn 2011. He declined the offer at the University of Trier. He already declined an offer for a professorship for Sociology of Education at the Technical University of Munich in 2010. Currently, he is a Junior Professor of Sociology with a special focus on educational inequality in the life course at the University of Bamberg and he is also the coordinator of the department on developments in Pre-School- and Primary-School-Age of the National Educational Panel Study (NEPS).
