Participation in the 4th Conference of the European Survey Research Association (ESRA)

The fourth conference of the European Survey Research Association (ESRA) took place in Lausanne, Switzerland, from the 18th to the 22nd of July, 2011. The conference is an excellent place for survey researchers, methodologists, and users of survey research from all over the world to met and discuss their projects.

NEPS project members took this chance to present the NEPS and their work within the NEPS to the scientific community. They gave six different talks on the following topics:

·     -    “The National Educational Panel Study in Germany: Purpose, Design and Challenges” by Jutta von Maurice, Volker Stocké and Hans-Peter Blossfeld (session „Challenges in Educational Surveys I”)

·     -    “Two-stage indirect sampling of Kindergarten children in the National Educational Panel Study (NEPS)” by Solange Koch (session „Challenges in Educational Surveys I”)

·     -    “Simulation based determination of first stage’s sample size using multistage sampling in educational surveys” by Hans Walter Steinhauer (session “Challenges in Educational Surveys II”)

·     -    “Multi-stage testing in longitudinal designs” by Steffi Pohl and Claus Carstensen (session “Challenges in Educational Surveys II”)

·     -    “Challenges in Data Collection and Data Protection: The National Educational Panel Study” by Ina Ristau, Sonja Meixner, Nicole Lidzba, André Müller-Kuller, Jutta von Maurice and Hans-Peter Blossfeld (session “Survey innovations in data collection for longitudinal surveys of the general Population”)

·     -    “Bayesian Analysis of Binary Probit Models: The Case of Measurement Error and Sequential Regression Modeling for Missing Explaining Factors” by Solange Koch, Benno Schönberger and Christian Aßmann (session “Multiple imputation of complex data designs II”)
