The current Scientific Use File (doi:10.5157/NEPS:SC2:8.0.0) contains newly added information from the eighth survey wave of the kindergarten cohort. The eighth main survey in autumn/winter 2017/2018 took place completely outside the school context as a written-postal survey (PAPI) of the children with additional online option (CAWI). A competence test did not take place in this wave, nor did intervies with the parents. For details on the data edition, please refer to the Release Notes on our website in the section „Documentation“. In addition to numerous other materials, you will also find the wave-specific Field Reports and the soon to be published Data Manual with comprehensive information about the survey design and the research data of Starting Cohort 2 there.
