Data Privacy Policy for all visitors of this website

This Data Privacy Policy applies to the servers of the Leibniz Institute for Educational Trajectories e.V. (LIfBi) and to all websites of LIfBi which make reference to this Data Privacy Policy.

General

Data protection is our concern and our legal responsibility.
In order to ensure the security of your data, we use appropriate state-of-the-art encryption methods (e.g. SSL/TLS) and secured technical systems. The LIfBi website can essentially also be used with browsers in which Java applets, active X-controls and cookies are disabled. A message is displayed if this significantly impairs the functionality.

Purposes of the processing

We shall only record your personal data within the legal limits for the following purposes:

  • To ensure operational security of our website, i.e. for detection of misuse and for troubleshooting.
  • To optimise the display of responses on your computer.
  • To meet legal access obligations with regard to government bodies.
  • To grant access to copyright and performance rights holders at their request.

We use the Matomo web statistics tool to compile usage statistics, to perform organisational studies, to test or maintain our website, and to ensure network and information security. Provided that the purpose of the processing is not impaired, we render personal data anonymous or pseudonymise it.

Legal basis for processing of personal data

Insofar as we obtain the consent of data subjects for processing of personal data, point (a) of Article 6(1) GDPR shall serve as a legal basis.
Insofar as processing of personal data is required for performance of a legal obligation, point (b) of Article 6(1) GDPR shall serve as the legal basis.
If processing is required to safeguard a legitimate interest on our part or that of a third party, and the former interest does not override the legitimate interests, fundamental rights and freedoms of the data subject, point (f) of Article 6(1) GDPR shall serve as a legal basis.

Data categories

Administration and editing

Function identifiers and personal identifiers with access protection mechanisms are created for administration and editing, and changes made by these identifiers are logged.

Log files

As soon as you open this or other LIfBi websites, you transmit data to our web servers via your web browser.
The following data is recorded during a connection for communication between your web browser and our web server:

  • Date and time of the requirement
  • Name of the required file
  • Site from which the file was requested
  • Access status (for example, file transferred, file not found)
  • Web browser used and screen resolution as well as the operating system
  • Full IP address of the requesting computer
  • Transferred data volume

Cookies

For use of web pages at www.lifbi.de, cookies are set by Matomo web statistics (see below - technical opt-out solution for Matomo Web Analytics). Cookies are only set in special cases such as completion of forms or login processes.

Communication

If you notify us of your concerns or opinions by email, post, phone or fax, the information provided is processed for the purposes of processing the concern and for any potential follow-up queries and an exchange of views. Unless you wish to change it, we will always use your chosen method of communication.

Recipients or categories of recipients of personal data

Our IT service providers can also be recipients of your personal data within the scope of our contracts regarding order processing. More information on service providers is available in the relevant section of our website.

Storage period for personal data

Administration and editing

Personalised administration and editing access to our websites is restricted with regard to processing after the data subject has left the LIfBi, and is erased one year after conclusion of the year in which the data subject has left the LIfBi.

Log files

All logs which contain personal data are erased after seven days.

Cookies

Cookies are set for the duration of the browser session. This does not apply to the technical opt-out solution for Matomo Web Analytics.

Rights of data subjects

You have the following rights pursuant to the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR):
If your personal data is processed, you have the right to obtain access to your stored personal data (Article 15 GDPR).
If inaccurate personal data is processed, you have a right to rectification (Article 16 GDPR). If the legal requirements are in place, you may demand the erasure or restriction of processing and demand the right to object to processing (Article 17, 18 and 21 GDPR). If you have consented to data processing or a data processing contract exists, and the data processing is carried out by automated means, you have the right to data portability (Article 20 GDPR). You also have the right to object to the Federal Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information.

We reserve the right to amend this data privacy policy if required, so that it always complies with the current legal requirements or reflects changes to our services. The current data privacy policy always applies when you next visit the website.
