The National Educational Panel Study is the result of an innovative, interdisciplinary networking process. The fundamental condition for its long-term success is the lasting and mutual cooperation in a flexible and multilocational network, which is guided by the necessity to respond to particular needs and demands. The scientists of the NEPS network, which is a study located at the Leibniz Institute for Educational Trajectories (LIfBi) at the University of Bamberg, are linked to the organizational structure of the LIfBi through the Departments of “Competencies, Personality, Learning Environments”, "Educational Decisions and Processes, Migration, Returns to Education" as well as “Research Data Center, Method Development” (Link to the RDC LIfBi). The following LIfBi projects are particularly involved in the implementation of NEPS:
The “Center for Study Management” and “Administration” of the LIfBi support the implementation of all studies and projects throughout the institute.
The NEPS is designed and structured according to two underlying principles:
- Making relevant information on educational transitions and pathways available as soon as possible. This is being achieved by dividing up educational biographies into eight stages with a particular focus on critical transitions.
- Additionally, the panel will make it possible to describe and analyze long-term developments in educational pathways within theoretically coordinated dimensions that we have called "pillars."
