Linked data package NEPS-SC1-ADIAB

7/31/2020

With NEPS-SC1-ADIAB, a new data package for scientific analysis is now available to researchers. It combines the survey data of parents from the NEPS Starting Cohort 1 (Newborns) with administrative data of the Federal Employment Agency (BA).

Analogous to the data linkage of the adult cohort (NEPS-SC6-ADIAB) and the cohort of ninth graders (NEPS-SC4-ADIAB), the data offering NEPS-SC1-ADIAB is a joint project of the Leibniz Institute for Educational Trajectories (LIfBi) and the Institute for Employment Research (IAB). It consists of the information from the parents contained in the Scientific Use File (Download version) of the NEPS panel study Starting Cohort 1 "Education From the Very Beginning" as well as information from the IAB's administrative data portfolio, including employee history, benefit recipient history, unemployment benefit II recipient history, jobseeker history, and participants-in-measures history. The combination of both data sources makes it possible to address new research questions, in particular those that require detailed income data over the life course. Further information on the characteristics contained in NEPS-SC1-ADIAB can be found in the FDZ-Datenreport 05/2020 on the website of the Research Data Center of the Federal Employment Agency at the IAB (IAB-FDZ).

Due to data protection regulations, access to NEPS-SC1-ADIAB is only possible during a guest stay at one of the locations of the IAB-FDZ and subsequent remote data processing. Prerequisite is the conclusion of a data use agreement with both the FDZ-LIfBi and the IAB-FDZ.
